I wonder if the Backup Exec 15 has support for carrying out the sql server 2014 with Backup Shared Volumes CSV (Cluster Shared Volume)?
If not, they know any other way to accomplish this backup? other software that performs this task?

I have BA2012 on server 2008 r2
We got a new QNAP TS-450 PRO with 4 disks * 4 TB. The disks configured as raid 5 one volume - 10.61TB
(Before we got old QNAP and it worked fine for two years)
The problems started with new QNAP
In the qnap I have 3 shared folders (domain admin). All folders accessible from the backup server.
DNS address ok.
Backup exec gives errors "the disk is offline" for all 3 folders.
In the last 24 hours it happend twice. In the middle of backup 20:29 and at 06:24 when no backup run.
I find no reason for this. Qnap have no errors. It online all the time.
I run ping -t for QNAP IP for 24 hours and it all OK.
So i have no idea what the problem is.
I run b2dtest.

I have changed the MMS to locally managed backup exec server, and then try to join into another CASO. When I go to Cential Admin Server page, the Central Administration serer is dim and keep the old record. How to join the MMS into another CASO ? Thanks
Have searched this and a few people seem to have had the issue but haven't found a solution which applies to us.
Currently having a bit of a mare afrer upgrade to BE 14.2 Rev 1180 (64bit).
Backup jobs (tape or disc) say they are running and report a byte count around what I would expect for the jobs but they never actually finish.
If I end the jobs (cancelling doesn't complete either and I am unable to stop the Job Engine service) then I can't restore any of the data it says it has written because it doesn't appear in the catalogues.
I would be happy to be missing something very obvious if it meant achieving reliable backups.
Help as ever greatly appreciated.

After upgrading from BE 2014 to BE 15 (actually it was uninstall BE2014 and install BE 15) I cannot access a vSphere 5.5 Server.
If I try to backup , then i get a failure message saying that the credentials could not be tested, sometimes "server did not answer". Changing credientials does not help.
Also I cannot open the tree of VMs as before. The message says simply "a communication failure occurred". therefore I cannot build a new backup job
i already read something about this phenomen, but this seemed to work for already existing jobs with failure meesages logged.
I tried to replace the actual libcurl.dll by a version from BE 2014 - no change. i also de-activated IPv6 on the backup server - no change.
All updates are installed.

I did go throuw the hardware SCL of BE 15 I can see LTO-5 FH But not LTO-5 Ultrium
is this means our library is not compatible with BE 15?

I'm trying to get the M-number so i can download my BackupExec 12.5-installation from fileconnect.symantec.com, however it's just impossible to understand what hoops you want me to jump through to get that number.
I go to licensing.symantec.com, i login with my account and i try to find some place where i can register by using the license key, which is the only thing i have in my package.
The package arrived in the post today, i have a white envelope that says "symantec backup exec 12.5 small business server premium edition, enterprise system builder edition". The back of it has a barcode with no useful information, inside is a white envelope with three cds and two "important license key information"-papers with three license-key stickers on each. That's all i have.
For me to download the actual installation package onto the server, which is some distance from me so i can't just drive over there, i NEED a m-something number for fileconnect, but unless i can register these license-keys it's impossible to get.
Why oh why do you hate me this much? what have i done to deserve beeing forced to use some illogical "license-portal" that just drives me insane everytime i log in?

I know verision 3 was Roxio but I cannot find any info in Roxio forum and was wondering if anyone else had tried here. My HP Pavilion a1440n will not boot after Goback 3 deluxe install. It starts to, flashes a blue screen, and then tries to reboot - over and over. I had to uninstall it to boot again. I did a system restore on XP Media Center and then reinstalled goback to see if that would help but to no avail. I wonder if it has something to do with HP Recovery partition. Could find nothing on HP site either. I have used version 3 on XP home and pro with no issues on the dell or the 2 I built myself. It only happens on this HP. Ideas?

I notice that there is no longer a "copy" function (or i missed it). You used to be able to do a full backup "copy" mode where it ignored the archive bit - the "copy" backup backed everything up regardless of bit, it ignored it on backing up, and it didnt flip it once the file was copied. I don't see that option anymore.
Is there any difference between the two methods, other than described in that linked article?
I'm inclined to continue using the archive bit as the one sentence from the link has me a little squeamish about using "Modified Date":
"In case of files which are renamed, copied or whose attributes are changed, currently, you need to add these files manually in the backup job."
maybe the archive bit ALSO isn't flipped for these procedures, but i think i'll still just use the archive bit.

We have 1 CAS + 40 MMS + 60 Windows agent + 10 DB backup agent + 5 linux backup agent running BE15
1. To upgrade BE15 to FP2 , if the CAS is upgraded to FP2 first but MMS still running BE15. Can backup jobs running on CAS work normally even MMS is not upgraded?
2. To upgrade BE15 to FP2 , need to reinstall the existing windows backup agent and linux backup agent?
3. To upgrade BE15 to FP2, no server restart is required?
4. Do I have to backup the DB of CAS for jobs before upgrading to FP2?

I made an old backup through backup exec 15 from maybe one month ago on Windows Server 2012 (Encrypted Backup).
The backup have full backup <-- ( expired ) and incremental backup 2 time per day.
My hard drive crashed ( my backup files in a share backup direcrtory ).
I tried to restore full backup from last backup point but no luck. It restored crashed windows (always ask for repair).
Please help me how can i at least extract files from my .bkf (Encrypted Backup) files and restore it manually.
I have create domain account and access backup operations. then Set the user account as a restricted logon account on the BE logon account manager.
But I user the account login backup exec system,the system show the user no admin or backup operations.
I often see the message "Backup Exec found xxx servers that do not have the Agent for Windows installed on them."
How to disable this Data Discovery function on MMS or CAS?

Okay, I know this post is going to sound like a broken record, but I have searched and read through other threads but it seemed to either not address or solve the issue directly or give an unclear explanation that pertained to that specific persons problem. Here it goes and please accept my apologies if this post seems so redundant.
Okay so I have a HP Proliant DL380 G4 server running Symantec Backup Exec 2012 (I know, I know, it's an old server lol) and I'm used to using Puredisk but it seems quite easy administering backups with SBE 2012 UNTIL! it's time to do recovery testing. I noticed I didn't have an adequate testing environment for my recovery tests, so I grabbed the best computer I could find which is a Dell Tower 5810 w/ a 1TB backup drive and a 250GB boot drive which isn't setup for RAID. So I tried doing a recovery of my HP Proliant server to my Dell Tower and I was met with a number of obstacles that indicated my recovery might go so smoothly, I will list those messages at the end. A little FYI - I do full SDR backups on our server here, the server is setup in a RAID 0 with a C: and D: drive and the Dell Tower is booting AHCI. Basically, I am not able to recover my backups to the Dell Tower. It's obvious that either this scenario won't work at all or I will need to do quite a bit of tweaking to make my test recoveries successful. I would really like to be able to find a way to recovery to the Dell Tower because if that HP server did crash then that may very well be all I have to use. So I have two questions if anyone can please answer:
1. How can I get this scenario to work; how can I get my recovery my backups to different hardware?
2. In the future, what is the best test environment to setup for conducting test recoveries?

- Your computer may not start successfully, if your system or boot volume resides on one of the hard disks attached to an inactive controller
- Drivers for one or more controllers are not installed. The computer may not start because the required system...
- If the recovered computer contains multiple hard disks, ensure that the computer's BIOS is configured to start the computer from the hard disk that contains the Windows Operating System
- invalid partition table (I received this message after rebooting from a restore)

Nun würde ich gerne einen vorhandenen Backup job, der über eine Ethernet-Schnittstelle sichert dazu bringen, dass er zukünftig über FibreChannel sichert. Beim Bearbeiten des Sicherungs jobs kann ich nur eine Ethernet-Schnittstelle auswählen.
Laut unserer Netzwerk-Truppe ist Fibre Channel eingerichtet und Datenübertragung hierüber ist möglich.
Bin allerdings ein newbie was FibreChannel anbelangt. Und bei Symantec Backup bin ich auch noch nicht so firm.
